In for the long haul...

Eventually they'll meet somewhere in the middle.

Just because...

Me & V saw this HUGE bone when we were out shopping, and we had to get it. It's nice to spoil your pets once in a while for no reason at all.

Check-ups...

Duke & Eddie making sure they both brushed properly.

I know it looks bad, but it's not. They only flash their chops to each other, I've never seen them actually bite one another. A picture says a thousand words, but with this one, it's the wrong words that scream at you.

A house isn't complete without...

Linoleum! Another great find from the shed. Kinda gives a funky vibe that feeds off of the wood paneling. So gross, but yet so cool.

The reason for it all...

Why wouldn't you want to make a nice place to sleep for these cuties during the cold nights? With those looks, they can make you do anything.

Help-a-holic...

Duke really wants to help with his new house, but having a dog all up in your face while you're trying to work might not help V in any way. Just a thought.

Failing...

To keep himself awake in the warm sunlight.

Where the wild things are...

Scratch that...

It was really cold last night so I decided to try and keep the cold air from invading the dog house.

I thought it was a good idea, until I woke up today and found little pieces of striped cloth in the backyard. I guess Duke & Eddie didn't think the colors matched with the decor.

Just one of those days...

The real reason why V built the side door.

The building inspectors...

Making sure the window is of appropriate size for the conditions it will be used for.

I think they approved.

The best feeling...

To come home from a long day at work to find the boys like this...

They like it! They really, really like it! =D

Thursday, January 15, 2004

Yesterday...

I took that shot of Duke & Eddie. 5 minutes later, I looked out the window to find them like this.

Loitering...

I came home from work and saw this.

It made me happy knowing that they really like their new place. Somewhere where they can just chill and hang out.

Water protection...

Now the boys have somewhere close to eat their food without having to leave the safety of their home. This will come in handy once the rainy season comes around. The porch overhang will protect their food from becoming one colorful bloated bowl of kibbles n' mush.

First night in...

This is the first time Duke & Eddie get to sleep in it overnight! I think they're diggin' the new pad their dad made for them.

Already making themselves at home and claiming their spots for the night. It's kind of hard to see, but the designer/builder put in his 5 cents into this shot. Can you see him? Hint: Check out the mug in the window

Doggie Duplex : Final Phase...

V thought it'd be cool to give their windows some trim. So he added that and finished up the swing door on the east wing. After putting on the final pieces of wood, I gave it another coat of white paint.

We have to make a run to the home improvement store and get another pack of roofing in order to completely finish the roof. But other than that, I would say this project is done.

Here's a shot from the east wing looking west. I think the wood paneling looks great and it gives the house some character.

V did an amazing job, don't ya think?! I'm sure Duke and Eddie will be forever grateful to him. Well, at least for today.

Doggie Duplex : Phase IX...

V put added the final wood pieces to their house...the roof. We're almost done!

Front & West view.

East view.

When we moved in the old owners left a bunch of supplies that they used for the house. We found an single box of alphalt roofing shingles in the garage, and of course you know what we did with those! What's a mini house without the matching roof?!

I painted a base coat with some leftover white paint that we found in the shed. It'll make it easier to paint once we pick the final color and it also protects their house from the harsh elements of Southern California living. =)

We plan to put in a large swing door on the East side. Just in case we need to get access to their house. You know, for those days when you just want a place to get away. I mean, they DO have insulation.

A nose knows...

I wonder what makes it turn from black to pink?

Diamonds...

Eddie sparkles in the mid-day sun.

More tricks for treats...

Had some leftover tortilla pieces, so you know what that means...

Tuesday, January 06, 2004

6th sense...

They can smell food from a mile away.

This is a stick-up!

Eddie's sleeps at the eye of danger.

Busy Bees...

Duke and Eddie are always willing to help.

Here they are trying to help V put up the wood paneling. Even though they probably get in V's way and slobber his face just as he's drilling, it's the thought that counts.

Duke (with his red sidekick) on the job supervising the wood cutting....and making sure V stays on schedule.

Eddie checking V's work to make sure it's up to code.
