How do you keep cool on such a hot day?

Stay in the BBQ bar & make funny faces of course!

Getting to "nose" them...

Snout shots of Duke & Eddie.

His winning smile...

Eddie was checking out the new shed & showed his approval by flashing his pearly whites.

Tuesday, June 27, 2006

I won't let you out of my sight...

Like a father looking over his son. On second thought, I realize I'm talking about Duke. So it's more like a hawk looking at his prey.

In tight quarters...

I've been finding Eddie sleeping on the concrete when I wake up in the morning. I wonder if it gets too warm in his house with all his thick fur & he just needs to lay down on the cold cement to cool off. Or maybe Duke's morning breath is so bad that Eddie has to escape for some fresh air!

New level of attention...

Duke kept bugging us to play with him while we were trying to do yardwork, so we figured out a way to keep him busy by putting his ball somwhere special.

Color selection...

Part Deux...

Who would have thought that the clumsy one would be so graceful when you add water.

Dog hair & pool filters don't mix...

But Eddie doesn't care about that! He found his love of swimming thanks to a hot weekend day. He looked like he was enjoying every minute of it & actually completed an entire lap! (Click on the Quicktime logo to load video)

Home decor...

Duke & Eddie have a new accessory for their house, a souvenir from Santa Barbara. Of course I had to buy the dog one, I don't think the boys would have appreciated a cat face hanging above their window. Oh the horror & humiliation!

Since Duke's the only one that can actually jump on top of the roof, I'm hoping he won't notice the new thing hanging from his house, . Everyday, I picture myself coming home and finding little pieces of metal and beads spread all about the cement. I've been crossing my fingers & so far so good!

Synchronized swimming...

Thanya came over so Eddie could show off his doggie paddle. They decided to take a few laps together.

Still working on Duke...

This was a far as he would go on his own. He wouldn't even go in for a ball, if you can believe that! But decided to pull him in anyways.

Priceless Father's Day gift...

We finally found Eddie's talent!!! After years of searching, we finally figured it out! Even though Eddie's the most kindest, free-spirited dog we know, he didn't really take interest in anything that a normal dog might. But now, V can finally brag about something involving Eddie, which I'm sure every father values the most in life.

Me & V were swimming yesterday & I did the normal routine of trying to coax the dogs in the pool for a swim. I guess it was so hot this time, that Eddie didn't need much convincing. I just called him to come in and he just stepped right in and took off! It was sooo cute to see him going back and forth & he actually looked like he was enjoying it. I guess a hot day can bring out the best in someone. Yes, our Eddie has skills.

Sum-Sum-Summertime!

A perfect day to get your feet, umm...paws, wet.

96 degrees in the shade...

The boys escaping the heat of a summer Friday.

I think I'll just pass out right here...

Duke was pooped after playing with his favorite tennis ball for a full hour!

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Yaaaaaaay!

Eddie loves to wait by the kitchen screen until somebody shows up.

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

What went wrong?

This was taken before the horrible crime. They both looked like they were good friends just hanging out & enjoying the cool grass. Little did anyone know that behind Duke's smile was an animal yearning to taking casual playing to a whole new level.

At the scene of the crime, so he must be a witness...

Not really. I don't think this rule applies to Eddie. I believe witnesses have to actually be AWARE of their surroundings.

Assassination details...

We think his actions are driven by satisfaction, with a motive of sheer pleasure.
WARNING : Not for the faint-hearted. For those sensitive to K9 accessories, please look away.

Take time to smell the grass...

But just don't get so angry about it!

Friday, June 09, 2006

He's now half of what he used to be...

The tennis ball annihilator claims yet another victim.

Thursday, June 08, 2006

Completely exhausted...

With all the sleeping they do all day, it can wear anyone out!

Wednesday, June 07, 2006

Eye contact...

Eddie likes to look at you when he's in full stretch. I guess he's watching you in case you try anything funny.

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

Finding the loophole...

Even though Duke & Eddie are not allowed on the carpet, they just love to cross the line. They don't think their paws count in that equation if they're not actually standing on them.

Monday, June 05, 2006

What?!

What is it?! Why are you looking at me?! Do I have a booger hanging from my nose? I do, don't I! I hate it when Eddie doesn't tell me about those things!

Sunday, June 04, 2006

Hoping that the curiosity outcome is different for the dog than the cat...

Eddie just LOVES to snoop into anything that we're doing. He's constantly curious & is always smelling the trashcans, our clothes, our hands and everything else that he comes across...even the freshly cut branches in our backyard that fell to the ground. I guess it's his way of figuring out the world and why he's such a thinker.

Whassdat?!

Duke keeps hearing things from the underneath the couch. He'll stay there and stare, looking for something that none of us can find. Eddie just looks at Duke like he's crazy and is embarrassed that he's related to him.
